Nolan Ryan pitched the fifth one-hitter of his career and shut out the Mariners for the second time this season as the Angels delighted their record home-opening crowd of 34,654 by posting a 7-0 victory. Bob Stinson singled in the fifth inning for the only hit off the Angels' fireballer, who struck out eight and walked six. The Angels backed Ryan with homers by Bobby Bonds, Don Baylor and Bobby Grich. [The Sporting News]
