Tom Seaver turned in the fifth one-hitter of his career while pitching the Mets to a 6-0 victory over the Cubs. Steve Ontiveros accounted for the hit in the fifth inning with a blooper that fell in front of right fielder Ed Kranepool, who just missed making a diving catch. The shutout was Seaver's second straight and 41st of his career. Mets' scoring included a homer by Dave Kingman with a man on base. [The Sporting News]
