Five-time batting champion Rod Carew stroked four hits, one a triple, drove in two runs and scored another in leading the Twins past the Royals, 8-6. Carew's three-bagger in the seventh scored Glenn Borgmann with the deciding run. The winning pitcher was Tom Johnson, who yielded one hit in four innings. [The Sporting News]
