Winning for the third straight time, Dick Ruthven yielded only five hits and struck out 10 while pitching the Braves to a 4-1 victory over the Padres. The only run off Ruthven was unearned on one of the righthander's two errors in the game. Gary Matthews and Rowland Office hit homers.
