Willie McCovey drove in two runs with a single in the sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie and send the Giants on their way to a 7-4 victory over the Astros. Bill Madlock was hit by a pitch and Darrell Evans singled before McCovey's hit pinned the defeat on Floyd Bannister, who was on the mound in relief in his first major league appearance.
