The Dodgers extended their winning streak to seven games with a 3-1 victory over the Reds behind the pitching of Don Sutton, who beat the Cincy crew for the first time since July, 1975. Sutton was 0-4 against the Reds last season.

Davey Lopes led off the game with a homer against Fred Norman. After the Reds tied the score in the fifth inning when Cesar Geronimo singled and Ken Griffey doubled, Ron Cey provided the Dodgers' winning margin by hitting for the circuit with a man on base in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
