Drawing their batting order out of a cap, the Yankees ended a five-game losing streak by defeating the Blue Jays, 7-5. Don Gullett, with relief help from Sparky Lyle in the eighth inning, gained his first A. L. victory.

Manager Billy Martin put slips of paper with players' names in his cap and Reggie Jackson drew them out to determine the Yankees' batting lineup. Willie Randolph, who wound up in the leadoff spot, rapped three hits, including his second major league homer, as the Yankees piled up 14 hits, their most for any game so far this season.
