Nine homers punctuated a doubleheader that saw the White Sox win the first game, 12-5, and the Athletics take the second game, 11-4. Chet Lemon and Ralph Garr each homered with two men on and Royle Stillman added a solo swat for the White Sox in the opener. The A's had round-trippers by Dick Allen and Earl Williams.

In the nightcap, Wayne Gross hit a homer, double and two singles for the A's and drove in four runs, while Mitchell Page had a homer and pair of singles to account for three RBIs. Manny Sanguillen contributed a double and three singles to the A's 14-hit attack. Richie Zisk and Eric Soderholm hit homers for the White Sox. [The Sporting News]
