A three-run rally in the eighth inning that included a pass with the bases loaded enabled the Twins to defeat the Mariners, 5-3. Craig Reynolds put the Mariners ahead, 3-2, with a homer in the seventh, but the Twins promptly loaded the bases in the eighth on a double by Lyman Bostock, single by Butch Wynegar and an error. Mike Cubbage singled to drive in the tying tally. Dan Ford then drew a walk from Stan Thomas to force in the Twins' leading run. An infield out by Rich Chiles added an insurance tally.
