Reggie Jackson's second sacrifice fly of the game sent Willie Randolph home in the ninth inning and gave the Yankees a 4-3 victory over the Orioles. A walk to Randolph, single by Thurman Munson and Jackson's first sacrifice fly started the scoring in the opening frame. Doug DeCinces homered for the Orioles and Chris Chambliss for the Yankees to help effect a 3-3 tie before Randolph doubled in the ninth, moved to third on an infield hit by Munson and scored on Jackson's fly.
