Manny Sanguillen, who was on a hot streak with 12 hits in 16 at-bats, rapped a homer and single, driving in three runs, to help the Athletics rally for a 7-5 victory over the Angels. Ron Jackson hit a two-run homer for the Angels, who jumped off to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings and then failed to hold it.

The A's began their comeback with four runs in the third, two scoring on a single by Dick Allen and one apiece on singles by Sanguillen and Earl Williams. Sanguillen hit his homer following a single by Mitchell Page in the fifth and Willams clinched the outcome with a round-tripper in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
