Although collecting 17 hits, the Tigers were not able to beat the Twins until Ron LeFlore scored an unearned run in the 10th inning to account for a 6-5 victory. The Tigers, in fact, were losing, 5-4, until Mickey Stanley batted for Phil Mankowski in the eighth and came through with a homer to tie the score. LeFlore singled in the 10th, stole second and crossed the plate when Rob Wilfong booted a grounder by Rusty Staub. [The Sporting News] |
