The Brewers tagged Wayne Garland for six runs in the first two innings and posted a 7-3 victory in the opener of a doubleheader, but Ray Fosse and Johnny Grubb drove in three runs apiece in the nightcap to lead the Indians to an 8-5 win. A triple by Cecil Cooper helped the Brewers score three times off Garland in the first and Robin Yount accounted for three more runs with a homer in the second. Garland steadied after that and pitched the route, but it was too late.

In the second game, Fosse batted in two runs with a double and Grubb tripled with the bases loaded as the Indians piled up six runs in the second inning. Fosse got his third RBI with a double in the fifth. [The Sporting News]
