Bert Blyleven, returning to action with the Rangers after serving a three-day suspension for throwing a beanball, pitched a four-hitter and breezed to a 13-0 victory over the Tigers for his second straight shutout. Ken Henderson hit a three-run homer in the first inning before the Rangers went on a rampage with seven runs in the second, featuring a two-run triple by Toby Harrah.
