The Cubs piled up 15 hits, including Manny Trillo's third homer in five games, and swamped the Braves, 11-4. The Cubs had a lead of only 4-3 going into the fifth inning when they broke the game apart with five runs.

Singles by Larry Biittner, Bobby Murcer, Jerry Morales and Trillo produced the first run of the outburst and kayoed Phil Niekro, who was tagged with his sixth straight loss.
