Jim Spencer tied the White Sox club record for most RBIs in one game by driving in eight runs with two homers and a single in an 18-2 trouncing of the Indians. The White Sox piled up seven runs in the second inning. Spencer, who batted twice, homered with a man on base in his first trip and plated two more runs with a bases-loaded single on his second appearance.

The White Sox first baseman then capped his slugging spree with the first grand slam of his major league career in the fourth inning. The White Sox record for RBIs was set by Shoeless Joe Jackson in 1920 and was tied by Carl Reynolds in 1930. [The Sporting News]
