Jerry Koosman hit his first homer since his 1968 rookie season while pitching the Mets to an 8-1 victory over the Giants. Ed Kranepool started the Mets' scoring with a two-run smash in the sixth inning. Koosman hit his homer off John Montefusco in the seventh, igniting a six-run outburst.
