A homer by Reggie Smith in the seventh inning after Bill Russell had singled provided the Dodgers' winning margin in a 6-4 victory over the Phillies. After the Dodgers took a 2-0 lead, the Phillies went ahead with three runs in the second on singles by Richie Hebner and Mike Schmidt, a double by Bob Boone, an infield out and single by Wayne Twitchell.
