A take-out slide by Dwight Evans that broke up a possible double play enabled the Red Sox to complete a four-run rally in the ninth inning and defeat the Brewers, 10-9. Trailing, 9-6, the Red Sox began their comeback with a one-out homer by Jim Rice. Carl Yastrzemski singled, reached second on an error and scored on a double by George Scott.

After Carlton Fisk walked, Evans singled, driving in Scott, to tie the score. Butch Hobson then grounded into a forceout at second and when Evans' slide prevented Don Money from making a throw to first, Fisk scored the winning run. [The Sporting News]
