Earl Williams hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning but then committed an error in the ninth that helped the Mariners defeat the Athletics, 7-6. Williams' homer put the A's ahead, 6-5. In the ninth, after Dave Collins singled and Ruppert Jones walked, Williams bobbled a bunt by Steve Braun and all runners were safe. Leroy Stanton tied the score with a single for his fourth hit of the game and Dan Meyer followed with a sacrifice fly to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News]
