Dave Parker smashed two homers, one of them with the bases loaded, to lead the Pirates' slugging display in an 11-4 victory over the Dodgers. Don Sutton, who was kayoed in the fourth inning, drew his first defeat after winning six games. John Candelaria, who gained his sixth straight victory, batted in the Pirates' first run with a single in the second and Omar Moreno capped the inning by hitting for the circuit with two men on base.

Candelaria singled for another RBI in the fourth when the Pirates piled up five runs. After Sutton departed, Parker hit his grand slam off reliever Al Downing. Parker and Al Oliver climaxed the Pirates' attack with back-to-back homers in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
