After winning the opening game of a doubleheader, 14-10, in a slugfest that produced a record-tying total of 11 homers, the Red Sox were held to two hits by Eduardo Rodriguez in the nightcap and lost to the Brewers, 6-0. In the lidlifter, the Red Sox had two homers by Fred Lynn and one each by Butch Hobson, Dwight Evans, Carl Yastrzemski and George Scott, while the Brewers countered with two round-trippers by Don Money and solo swats, all in the seventh inning, by Sixto Lezcano, Mike Hegan and Von Joshua. The Red Sox won with a seven-run explosion in the eighth inning, Evans started the outburst with a two-run homer and Scott capped it with a grand slam.

In the nightcap, the Brewers backed Rodriguez' pitching with an attack that included homers by Jim Wohlford and Ken McMullen. Wohlford connected for the circuit with a man on base and drove in two more runs with an infield out and single. [The Sporting News]
