The Expos ended their 11-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Padres behind the six-hit, 11-strikeout pitching of Steve Rogers. John D'Acquisto, making his first start for the Padres since being obtained from the Cardinals, allowed only four hits in seven innings but was a victim of his own wildness.

The Expos scored two runs in the first inning on only one hit, a leadoff single by Dave Cash. Warren Cromartie walked. After a wild pitch, Cash scored on an infield out by Wayne Garrett.
