A four-run rally in the seventh inning at the expense of Luis Tiant carried the Yankees to a 6-5 victory over the Red Sox. George Scott hit a homer and Steve Dillard drove in two runs with a double and sacrifice fly as the Red Sox took a 5-2 lead.

Opening the Yankee seventh, Graig Nettles and Carlos May smashed consecutive homers. Bucky Dent singled, moved up on a sacrifice and scored the tying run on a double by Mickey Rivers. Thurman Munson then singled to score the winning marker. [The Sporting News]
