Rick Rhoden and Charlie Hough shared the pitching honors as the Dodgers defeated the Astros, 4-2. Rhoden gained credit for the victory, bringing his record to 7-1, while Hough, who relieved in the seventh inning, picked up his 12th save.

The Dodgers grabbed the lead with two runs in the second on a single by Steve Garvey, double by Rick Monday and single by Dusty Baker. Doubles by Ted Martinez and Ron Cey tacked on a run in the fifth. The Dodgers' final tally counted in the seventh on a walk to Steve Yeager, single by Martinez and sacrifice fly by Reggie Smith.
