The slumping Dodgers suffered their fourth straight defeat, losing to the Astros, 5-2. Steve Garvey batted in the Dodgers' runs with a double in the first inning. A homer by Joe Ferguson in the fourth and a run on singles by Willie Crawford and Enos Cabell around a walk to Ferguson in the sixth brought the Astros even. Then in the seventh, after Art Howe was hit by a pitch and Cesar Cedeno walked, the Astros pushed over three runs on singles by Julio Gonzalez, Crawford and Cliff Johnson.
