John Mayberry, who had hit only four homers in 41 previous games this season, broke loose with three circuit clouts as the Royals defeated the Blue Jays, 11-3. The big first baseman connected with a man on base in the fifth inning, added a solo shot in the seventh and then homered again with one aboard in the ninth to cap his slugging show.
