Allowing only two hits, John Candelaria pitched the Pirates to a 3-0 victory over the Phillies in game a stopped by rain after 7½ innings. The Pirates, who snapped a five-game losing streak, counted all their runs off Larry Christenson after two out in the first. Dave Parker walked and scored on a triple by Al Oliver. After Bill Robinson was hit by a pitch, Parker came home on a single by Rennie Stennett. Bill Robinson then scored when a grounder by Ed Ott went through Larry Bowa for an error.
