Leading off in the 10th inning, Larry Hisle hit his second homer of the game to lift the Twins to a 9-8 victory over the Royals. Hisle started his slugging with a three-run smash in the first inning. Rod Carew had three hits and drove in three runs.

After the Royals took an 8-6 lead with the aid of two round-trippers by John Mayberry and one by Fred Patek, Glenn Borgmann tied the score with a two-run homer in the ninth.
