Rick Reuschel scattered four hits and retired 15 straight batters at one stretch while pitching the Cubs to a 3-1 victory over the Giants. Reuschel struck out Jack Clark with the bases loaded in the first inning and did not allow another runner until Gary Thomasson singled with two out in the sixth. The Giants' run in the seventh was unearned. Jerry Morales, Bobby Murcer and Larry Biittner drove in the Cubs' runs, two of them carried home by Ivan DeJesus. [The Sporting News]
