Sparked by Willie Randolph, who hit a homer with a man on base, the Yankees went ahead with four runs in the fifth inning and defeated the Twins, 6-5. After Randolph's rap put the Yankees in front, 4-3, a single by Chris Chambliss, pass to Carlos May and singles by Graig Nettles and Paul Blair added two more tallies.
