Ted Simmons, Jerry Mumphrey, Garry Templeton and Keith Hernandez each batted in two runs to carry the Cardinals to a 9-6 victory over the Giants. After trailing, 4-0, the Cards erupted for six runs in the fourth inning, two scoring on a homer by Simmons and two on a double by Mumphrey. The Giants came back to tie the score, but the Cardinals broke away with three runs in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
