The Red Sox smashed four homers off Catfish Hunter in the first inning and tagged Dick Tidrow for two more in the seventh to slug the Yankees into defeat, 9-4. Rick Burleson and Frd Lynn began the bombardment of Hunter and, after two were out, Carlton Fisk and George Scott connected for the circuit. Fisk's homer was the 100th of his career.

In the seventh, Jim Rice singled and Carl Yastrzemski and Fisk followed with homers. The trio of back-to-back blows marked the 8th, 9th and 10th times the Red Sox had achieved that feat this season. [The Sporting News]
