Bill Robinson, who broke up a no-hit bid by Wayne Twitchell with a single in the eighth inning, touching off a four-run rally by the Pirates, singled again off reliever Joe Kerrigan in the 10th and drove in a run to beat the Expos, 6-5. Twitchell had a 5-0 lead and a perfect game in the works before Robinson singled. Al Oliver followed with a homer. When Ed Ott singled, Twitchell gave way to Will McEnaney.

Two singles then loaded the bases and Kerrigan, following McEnaney to the mound, walked Dave Parker to force in the Pirates' fourth run. With two out in the ninth, the Pirates tied the score with singles by Willie Stargell, Ott and Bobby Tolan. Robinson's winning single in the 10th came after a double by Phil Garner and intentional pass to Parker and made a winner out of Rich Gossage. [The Sporting News]
