A grand slam by Cecil Cooper with two out in the ninth inning powered the Brewers to an 8-6 victory over the Mariners. Juan Bernhardt drove in three runs for the Mariners, while Jamie Quirk had a homer and three singles for the Brewers.

In the ninth, Quirk and Charlie Moore hit singles off Diego Segui. Enrique Romo relieved and walked Robin Yount to load the bases before striking out Don Money. The Mariners then brought in Mike Kekich, who served up Cooper's clout. Mike Caldwell was the beneficiary, gaining his first A. L. victory. [The Sporting News]
