Enos Cabell's second double of the game and Cesar Cedeno's third featured a three-run rally in the ninth inning as the Astros defeated the Padres, 7-6. Tom Griffin and Dave Winfield hit homers for the Padres.

Ken Boswell opened the Astros' ninth with a single and scored on Cabell's double for his fourth hit of the game. Rollie Fingers made a wild pickoff attempt and when center fielder George Hendrick let the ball get by him, Cabell crossed the plate.
