Jim Spencer batted in eight runs in a game for the second time this season and powered the White Sox to a 13-8 victory over the Twins. Spencer started his slugging with a grand slam in the fourth after Bill Butler, the Twins' starter, had walked three batters to load the bases.

After accounting for another RBI with a single in the sixth, Spencer capped his big day by hitting a homer with two men on base in the eighth during a seven-run outburst by the White Sox. All seven runs were scored as the result of two Twins' errors. [The Sporting News]
