Getting homers from Oscar Gamble, Jim Spencer and Ralph Garr, the White Sox defeated the Mariners, 6-2, for their fifth straight victory. Gamble and Spencer connected in succession in the sixth inning, Gamble's blow coming after a single by Jorge Orta.
