Lamar Johnson homered with a man on base in the third inning when the White Sox scored three runs to defeat the Mariners, 4-1, for their sixth straight victory. Jim Essian walked and Alan Bannister beat out an infield hit to start the stanza. After the runners moved up on a grounder by Jorge Orta, Richie Zisk hit a sacrifice fly, driving in Essian, and Johnson followed with his homer to score behind Bannister. [The Sporting News]
