The Phillies won their seventh straight game with a three-run rally in the sixth inning that beat the Mets, 5-3. Mike Vail hit a two-run homer in the fourth to stake the Mets to a 3-1 lead before Mike Schmidt opened the Phillies' comeback by drawing his third walk of the game. Greg Luzinski singled and Davey Johnson sacrificed. After an intentional pass to Bob Boone, Jerry Martin hit a two-run single to tie the score and Tim McCarver followed with a sacrifice fly to put the Phillies ahead. Johnson added an insurance marker with a homer in the eighth. [The Sporting News] |
