The Athletics snapped their six-game losing streak with a 7-1 victory over the Royals. The A's settled the issue with three runs in the fourth inning. With two out, Wayne Gross and Willie Crawford drew walks from Jim Colborn and Earl Williams was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Rich McKinney singled, driving in Gross and Crawford, and when Al Cowens made a wild throw from the outfield, Williams also crossed the plate. The Royals, who were stopped on a four-game winning streak, counted their run off Rick Langford in the fourth on a triple by George Brett and sacrifice fly by John Mayberry. [The Sporting News]
