After Jim Rice had hit a pair of two-run homers earlier in the game, Butch Hobson took over the slugging role and connected for the circuit with two men on base in the 10th inning to boost the Red Sox to a 9-7 victory over the Indians. Bill Campbell, pitching in relief, allowed the Indians to tie the score at 6-6 with two runs in the ninth but then gained credit for the victory on Hobson's homer. The Indians rallied against Bill Lee in their half of the 10th but fell short, scoring one run. [The Sporting News]
