The Astros rallied for two runs off Don Sutton in the eighth inning and defeated the Dodgers, 4-3. Regge Smith, returning to the Dodgers' lineup after being out for six days with injuries, hit two homers and drove in all their runs.

After a solo swat by Smith gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead in the eighth, Wilbur Howard beat out a bunt with one away in the Astros' half and stole second as Bob Watson struck out. Jose Cruz came through with a double, driving in Howard, and then crossed the plate himself with the winning run on a single by Joe Ferguson. [The Sporting News]
