A pitching duel between Ken Kravec and Jerry Garvin was decided in the eighth inning when the White Sox scored an unearned run to defeat the Blue Jays, 2-1. Kravec gave up only three hits, while Garvin allowed four. With two out in the eighth, Garvin walked both Richie Zisk and Lamar Johnson.
