Jim Rooker pitched a three-hitter for the Pirates in the first game and Nino Espinosa followed with a four-hitter for the Mets in the second game as the clubs split a twi-night doubleheader. The Pirates won the opener, 7-1. Dave Parker collected two hits and scored twice, in addition to batting in a run with a sacrifice fly.

The Mets captured the nightcap. 6-1. Mike Vail backed Espinosa's pitching with four hits, including a homer. Felix Millan joined in the Mets' attack with his first homer since April 20, 1976. [The Sporting News]
