The Red Sox broke Francisco Barrios' personal six-game winning streak when Carl Yastrzemski drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to beat the White Sox, 4-3. After Carlton Fisk hit a sacrifice fly for the Red Sox in the fourth, the White Sox came back with all their runs on a walk, two singles and a double by Jim Spencer.

The Red Sox tied the score with a homer by Butch Hobson in the fifth and an unearned run in the sixth. Jim Rice singled in the eighth, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch by Barrios before scoring on Yastrzemski's fly. [The Sporting News]
