The six-hit pitching of Paul Thormodsgard in the first game and the batting of Larry Hisle in the second game featured the Twins' sweep of a doubleheader with the Athletics, 4-1 and 9-5. Roy Smalley, Rod Carew, Lyman Bostock and Luis Gomez split the RBIs for the Twins in the opener. Hisle hit a double and homer in the nightcap.
