The Mets pounded five pitchers for 16 hits, including Felix Millan's second homer of the season in the ninth, to defeat the Giants, 7-4. New York took command in the third, erasing a 1-0 Frisco lead with three runs on RBI singles by John Milner and Lee Mazzilli and a sacrifice fly by Mike Vail.

Winner Jon Matlack was forced to leave the game with a stiff shoulder in the sixth when the Giants scored three times. Steve Henderson paced the Mets' attack with a run-scoring triple in the fourth and RBI single in the seventh. He also scored a pair of runs. [The Sporting News]
