The Rangers, who trailed after six innings, 7-0, made a tremendous comeback and defeated the White Sox, 9-8. Richie Zisk homered with a man on base and Jim Spencer also batted in two runs to help the White Sox take their big lead. The Rangers picked up two unearned runs in the seventh and then exploded for six runs in the eighth.

Bert Campaneris and Keith Smith walked and both scored on singles by Toby Harrah and Tom Grieve. Jim Sundberg was safe on an error by Jack Brohamer, Harrah scoring, before Dave May hit a three-run homer to put the Rangers ahead. The White Sox tied the score in their half with a triple by Jim Essian and single by Alan Bannister, but the Rangers put over the winning run in the ninth when Campaneris singled, Smith sacrificed and Willie Horton doubled to cap their comeback.
