After falling behind, 3-0, the Reds turned on the power with three homers, capping their attack with a two-run blow by Dan Driessen in the 10th inning, to defeat the Cubs, 5-3. Steve Swisher homered for the Cubs in the fifth and Larry Biittner drove in two runs with a double in the seventh.

Mike Lum started the Reds' comeback with a circuit clout in the home half of the seventh. Then in the eighth, Joe Morgan singled and George Foster hit his 36th homer of the season to tie the score. Driessen's winning drive in the 10th came after a single by Foster. [The Sporting News]
